Breed-Specific Genetic Coverage

We carefully screen our breeding pairs for conditions most prevalent in toy breeds. This guarantee covers the following hereditary defects if they are found to be life-threatening or severely limit the dog's quality of life:

Portosystemic Shunt (Liver Shunt)

Severe Luxating Patellas (Grade 3/4)

Remedy Options

If a licensed veterinarian diagnoses a covered hereditary condition, Warm Hearts Yorkies offers the following solutions:

Replacement Puppy

A replacement puppy of the same sex and quality from the next available litter. You may keep your original companion; we do not require the return of a beloved family pet.

Veterinary Credit

A reimbursement of veterinary expenses related to the condition, up to 50% of the original purchase price of the puppy.

Breed-Specific Exclusions

Because Yorkies are fragile toy breeds, certain conditions are highly dependent on environment and management and are not covered:

Hypoglycemia: Toy breeds have tiny livers; dangerous drops in blood sugar resulting from stress or missed meals are preventable management issues.
Environmental Injury: Broken bones, concussions, or joint injuries sustained from being dropped, stepped on, or jumping off high furniture.
Dental Disease: Retained deciduous (baby) teeth or periodontal disease resulting from a lack of standard, daily dental care.
Common Parasites: Coccidia, Giardia, or worms, which are common in puppyhood and easily treatable.

While we breed for excellence, please note that Yorkies are a uniquely developing breed. We cannot guarantee:

Exact Adult Coat Color (Yorkies naturally "break" and lighten)
Final Adult Weight or Size
Ear Carriage (whether ears will remain perfectly erect)
Exact Coat Texture (Silky vs. Cottony)

Claims & Documentation

To honor this guarantee, the puppy must be kept current on all vaccinations and heartworm/flea prevention. In the event of a claim, official OFA results (for joint/cardiac claims) or specialized diagnostic panels (such as a Bile Acid test for Liver Shunt) are required. Warm Hearts Yorkies reserves the right to a second opinion by a veterinarian of our choice.
